  • About

  • I started saltwater fishing when I was eight years old. We lived just north of Olympia and I caught bullheads and perch from the dock. Later I took the skiff out to fish for salmon and dogfish.

I bought my own boat in 1973 and chartered when not fishing commercially.

I retired from the Air Force in 1994 and took a job in Corvallis. I've fished the ocean and lakes whenever possible since then.

I have fished in 8 states, 5 countries, 3 oceans and the Gulf.

I've been a member of OCEAN's board since nearly the first meeting and I am proud of what we have accomplished. My main areas of interest with the organization are web development and AV management for the Saltwater Sportsmen's Show seminars. I was elected vice president in 2012 and president in 2013. I am now serving my second term as president.

  • I've lived on the West Coast all my life, and have been an Oregonian for the last 26 years. My passion is fishing. I've always had a fascination for the ocean and its inhabitants. Helping OCEAN is a great way to assist in conservation efforts that insure future fishing opportunities. I've served on the OCEAN board for four years. My responsibilities at SSS include managing tradeshow demonstrations.

  • About

  • I was born and raised in the Willamette Valley, graduated from Dallas High School, and served in the Navy for four years. After graduating from Portland State, I taught grades 3-6 for 30 years. When I retired recently, I became active as a Northwest Steelheader with ODFW's step program. We set up fish tanks in schools to teach the life cycles of salmon and trout. Volunteering with OCEAN and SSS gives me an opportunity to be active in programs that help ocean fisheries and improve safety for fishermen. I have volunteered for registration duties and am currently serving as treasurer.

I have a B.S. in Psychology, and a B.A. in Zoology from UW. At UO,I completed my PhD in Biology at the Institute of Neuroscience. I married Renee in 1978, and we raised a daughter and a son. I retired to rural Pleasant Hill, OR. I enjoy fishing when I can, and am pleased to be a part of the OCEAN group to promote the responsible harvesting of our wonderful marine abundance. I've served on the OCEAN board for three years.

  • About

  • I retired not long ago after 35 years as a repairman with the phone company in Ontario, Oregon. For the first dozen or so years, I was the guy on your step with a tool belt wanting to know if you had phone trouble. The last twenty some was spent diagnosing problems in digital systems. I was the guy you saw sitting in a pick-up with a laptop computer - taking a nap.

I am also an angling instructor with ODFW. I joined the OCEAN board in 2012 after attending the show a few times. At the Saltwater Sportsmen's Show, I've worked with the auction and raffle set up and anything else that needs to be done. Through my involvement with OCEAN, I hope to learn as much as I can about saltwater fishing, boating and conservation practices and then pass that information on to others. Hopefully, through OCEAN, we can make this world just a little bit better for everyone.

  • About

  • I was born 1/4 mile from the head waters of the Klamath River but grew up between SE Oregon and the Gold Country south of the ORCal border. I've always been a water person and a fisherman since I was 2 when my mom tied me to a willow tree along Klamath Lake to fish.

I love driving to the Sea Of Cortez and fishing for yellow tail and whatever else is biting. I've caught 5 yellow fin tuna over 200 lbs; the largest 258, and too many to keep track of over 100lbs.

I've been on the board of OCEAN and Saltwater Sportsmen's Show since the first meetings of the Salty Dogs. At the SSS, I help with whatever needs doing: laying out the trade show, directing traffic during set up and take down, and everything in between.
